About the farm:
To find out more about the farm, read the blog on Belfied’s Syrah posted on 15 May 2017.
About the wine:
Magnifica is another cool-climate Elgin gem. It is a Cabernet Sauvignon (86%) led blend, with some Cabernet Franc (7%) and Merlot (7%). The wine was matured in French oak barrels for 11 months.
The wine has a deep garnet colour with mouth-watering aromas of red berries, lavender and chocolate which fills the glass. The aromas make for a seductive introduction to this blend!
Magnifica is a dry, full-bodied wine with an alcohol level of 14,5%. It has medium acidity and the tannins are soft, but bold. It has a lingering finish and leaves a velvety mouthfeel. I enjoyed drinking this wine just as much as I enjoyed sniffing it!
This is a bold wine that can pack a punch, yet it has been “tamed” to a point where I really enjoy drinking the wine, without taking away from its complexity. A great wine to share with friends over supper!
