About the farm:
Ataraxia is Greek for “a serene state of mind, free from worry and preoccupation”. The farm was founded in 2004 by wine maker Kevin Grant and his wife. The farm is situated in the Hemel & Aarde Valley, a cool-climate region. The vineyards are located at the foot of the Babylonstoren mountain range on predominantly south facing slopes.
Kevin was the previous wine maker at Hamilton Russel just down the road. Ataraxia launched his solo career. Ataraxia is also home to some of the most spectacular terroirs South Africa has to offer.
The “Wine Lounge” is a chapel built in the architectural style of the Overberg region. The chapel is a unique space and offer some breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. The lounge offers an experience guaranteed to leave an impression!

About the wine:
Serenity is a red blend consisting of Pinot Noir, Cinsault and cool-climate Pinotage. It has a bright ruby colour and inviting aromas of red berry, some spicy notes and refreshing minerality.
Personally,I find it is a medium bodied wine (light to drink but packed with flavour). It leans more towards the acidic side with smooth tannins and an elegant finish.
The wine was aged in French oak for 11 months (42% new and 58% second fill barrels). It is an intriguing wine which can be enjoyed in both the summer and winter months. It captivates you from the first sip – and the second... and the third... until the bottle runs dry.
It is definitely a must have for your collection; but enough with all the words, let the wine speak for itself!
