Why DiVine?

My interest in wine only started fairly recently.  My husband and I got married in December 2015.  After the Honeymoon, we decided to visit a wine farm, just for the heck of it, and off we went to Gabriëlskloof, a family owned wine farm situated in Botrivier.  That’s where the magic happened!

The farm offered different food and wine pairings, and as we hadn’t had lunch for the day yet, we decided to try all the options.

We started off with the white wine pairing.  This included a Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon-Semillion blend and Viognier.  It was perfectly paired with bite-sized tapas.  We were now intrigued.

Never ones to drink red wine by choice; we decided to give the red wines pairing a go.  This pairing included two different Bordeaux-style blends and two different Shiraz wines.  We were also able to taste the Noble Late Harvest. Ah, bliss!

What would a good meal be without a perfect dessert?  Fortunately, the farm also offered a chocolate and wine pairing.  The whole experience was DiVine!

From here the journey began…

Since that day, we’ve had a couple of wine tours with family and friends – setting out to discover some of the best wine farms in South Africa.

I have taken “wine” on as my hobby and enrolled in some courses to learn more about wine and wine appreciation.  Since that day at Gabrëlskloof, I have not looked back!

So here I am today, excited to share my wine-experiences and stories.  I’ve learnt that wine is a very personal taste and will differ from person to person.  This blog is to voice my experiences, opinions and thoughts.

To write about farms visited, the wines tasted, food pairing events attended and much more.  I hope to take you along with me on this journey, whether you are a wine enthusiast or not (yet)!

And thats why... DiVine...
